OK, here I go!  I decided to start a blog because I need a place to jot down what goes through my head.  The random, the regular, the reckless.  There's a lot of it, and it would be nice if I could make sense of it.  While my life has always been pretty hectic, recently it's been turned upside down and backwards in ways I never imagined possible.  I eventually plan to put the how's and why's in this blog, but for now I just want to get my feet wet.

I took great care in coming up with a name and design for this blog.  I wanted it to represent me, my life, and what I find important.  "Island In The Ocean" conjures up many powerful and ever changing images, and speaks to my love affair with the sea.

The island knows and stands in awe of the vastness and power of the ocean.  The rhythmic bounding of the surf on the shore offers a calmness found nowhere else on earth.  As the storms roll in, the island stands strong against the wind and waves.  And while the storm may cause the island to lose ground, the island rides it out knowing there is peace on the other side.
